Common Jingle Shell

Common jingle shell, Anomia simplex, is a bivalve mollusk of the family Anomiidae found in shallow coastal waters and estuaries along the Atlantic coast of North America, ranging from Nova Scotia south to Brazil. Like other members of its family, it produces an extremely thin, often translucent, paper-like shell, and it attaches itself to hard surfaces such as rocks and other shells using a calcified plug that passes through a hole in its lower valve.
