The Ceylon caecilian is a limbless, burrowing amphibian, family Ichthyophiidae, endemic to the moist forests and pastures of southwestern and central Sri Lanka. Its body is ringed by hundreds of transverse folds that give it a segmented, earthworm like appearance, and it is colored steel blue above with pale yellow bands running along each side.
