Potamon fluviatile is a freshwater crab found in and near wooded streams, rivers and lakes of Southern Europe. An omnivore with broad ecological tolerances, it typically reaches 50 millimeters in size and lives for 10 to 12 years, inhabiting burrows and behaving aggressively enough to apparently outcompete native crayfish for habitat.
