Alcea rosea

Alcea rosea, the common hollyhock, is an ornamental flowering plant in the mallow family Malvaceae. It was brought to Europe from southwestern China around or before the 15th century, and the herbalist William Turner gave it the name holyoke, from which its English common name derives.
