Eurasian coot

The Eurasian coot (Fulica atra), also called the common coot, is a bird in the rail and crake family Rallidae found across Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and parts of North Africa. It has a slaty-black body, a glossy black head, and a white bill with a white frontal shield, with the sexes appearing similar. It is assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN and is covered by the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds.
