The Arizona bark scorpion, Centruroides sculpturatus, is a species of scorpion native to the Sonoran Desert of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, recognized as the most venomous scorpion in North America. Unlike most scorpions, it frequently climbs vertical surfaces such as tree bark, rock walls and the sides of houses, and its sting, while rarely fatal to healthy adults, causes intense pain along with numbness and can be dangerous to young children and people with certain health conditions.
