The shining-blue kingfisher, Alcedo quadribrachys, is a species of bird in the kingfisher family Alcedinidae, found across tropical Africa. It was formally described by the French ornithologist Charles Lucien Bonaparte in 1850, and its scientific name combines the Latin word for kingfisher with a term referring to its four toes. Two subspecies are recognized, occupying distinct ranges across West, Central and East Africa, and the species is considered the closest relative of the half collared kingfisher.
