Green sandpiper

The green sandpiper, Tringa ochropus, is a small wading shorebird of the Old World. It represents an ancient lineage within the genus Tringa, with its closest living relative being the solitary sandpiper; both species share brown, lightly spotted wings and unusually nest in trees rather than on the ground like most other sandpipers. It breeds across subarctic Europe and the Palearctic and winters in southern Europe, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and tropical Africa.
