All Bryozoan Classes

The bryozoan classes are the three classes into which GBIF divides the phylum Bryozoa, the Stenolaemata with about 14,358 descendant taxa, the Gymnolaemata with about 14,336, and the much smaller Phylactolaemata with about 199. Bryozoans are almost always colonial, and a colony may hold from a few to millions of individual zooids. Their colonies take varied forms, from encrusting sheets that spread over rocks and shells to upright massive, sheetlike, branching or netlike growths, and most species alive today encrust.
