Cannonball Jellyfish

Cnidarians

The cannonball jellyfish is common in the warm coastal waters of the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific, named for its firm, round, cannonball-shaped bell. Unlike many jellyfish it lacks long trailing tentacles, instead using short oral arms to filter plankton from the water, and it is caught commercially in parts of Asia and the southeastern United States, where it is processed and sold as food.
