Weaver Ant, or green ant, is the common name for the eusocial ants of the genus Oecophylla, which live in trees and are known for their distinctive nest-building behavior of weaving leaves together using larval silk. Colonies can be extremely large, consisting of more than a hundred nests spanning numerous trees and containing more than half a million workers, and the ants prey on small insects while supplementing their diet with honeydew excreted by scale insects.
