Nordmann Fir

Nordmann Fir is a fir native to the mountains bordering the Black Sea, including the Caucasus region of Russia and Georgia and parts of Turkey. It is a large forest tree capable of reaching over 50 meters in height in its native range, with dark green, glossy needles that are notably soft and non prickly to the touch. Because of its attractive foliage, strong needle retention after cutting and pleasant symmetrical shape, Nordmann Fir has become one of the most widely grown Christmas tree species in Europe. In its native mountain forests it typically grows mixed with other conifers and broadleaf trees at mid to high elevations.
