Mud Crab

The mud crab is a large, heavy-clawed crab found in mangroves, estuaries, and coastal mudflats across the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to Australia. Its powerful claws, capable of crushing shellfish, make it both a formidable predator of mollusks and a prized food species, farmed and fished commercially across much of its range. It typically burrows into soft mud or hides among mangrove roots by day, becoming more active in the water at night.
