European herring gull

The European herring gull, or simply herring gull, is a large gull up to 66 centimeters long that breeds along the northern and western coasts of Europe. Some populations in colder areas migrate farther south for winter, while many, such as those in Ireland, Britain and Iceland, remain resident year round. It has a varied diet of fish, crustaceans and some plant matter, and readily scavenges carrion and food left by or taken from humans.
