Snow Bunting

Birds

The snow bunting is a passerine bird in the family Calcariidae, and an Arctic specialist with a circumpolar breeding range across the northern hemisphere. Small isolated populations also breed on a few high mountain tops south of the Arctic proper, including the Cairngorms in central Scotland, the Saint Elias Mountains on the Alaska-Yukon border, and the Cape Breton Highlands. It is the most northerly recorded passerine bird in the world.
