Covers every family-rank taxon entity in this atlas identified by its own sourced description as a fish family under the standard ichthyological classification (Nelson's Fishes of the World, followed by ITIS, GBIF and the Catalogue of Life alike), among them the cyprinid relatives Cyprinidae, Danionidae and Leuciscidae, the true minnow, danio and tench lineages that were historically one family before phylogenetic study split them, the catfish family Clariidae, the cichlids of Cichlidae, the cods of Gadidae, the salmon and trout of Salmonidae, the freshwater eels of Anguillidae, the sunfishes of Centrarchidae, and the predatory perches of Latidae. A member is placed here only where its own sourced description identifies it as a fish family, never assumed from a name resembling another group's naming pattern.
