Aulacomnium palustre

Aulacomnium palustre, known as the bog groove moss or ribbed bog moss, is a moss with a nearly cosmopolitan distribution across North America, Hispaniola, Venezuela, Eurasia and New Zealand. In North America it ranges through the southern arctic, subboreal and boreal regions from Alaska and British Columbia to Greenland and Quebec, with scattered occurrences further south. It is recognized by its bright yellowish green to green leaves, which give clumps a glowing appearance against reddish brown stems, and by its strongly ribbed, cylindrical spore capsule; it typically forms clumps or lawns in wetland habitats.
