Amarsipus carlsbergi, known as the amarsipa, is a small, slender fish and the sole species in the family Amarsipidae and genus Amarsipus, placed in the order Scombriformes though its exact relationships to related fish lineages remain uncertain. It reaches a standard length of about 21.2 centimeters and lives in the equatorial parts of the Indian and Pacific Oceans at depths of 30 to 130 meters, a specialized mid-water deep-sea niche.
