Mole crickets are insects of the family Gryllotalpidae within the order Orthoptera. They have cylindrical bodies adapted for life underground, typically 3 to 5 centimeters long as adults, with small eyes and shovel-like forelimbs highly developed for burrowing. Mole crickets are found in many parts of the world, and where they have been introduced to new regions outside their native range, they can become significant agricultural pests.
