Home›Fish›Everyday Group›Lilies And Orchids (Liliales/Asparagales)GroupLilies And Orchids (Liliales/Asparagales)This group gathers Flowering Plants subcategory members belonging to the two lily-like monocot orders Liliales and Asparagales, both defined by flower parts typically arranged in threes and a superficially similar strap-shaped or grass-like leaf, though the two orders are not one another's closest relatives within the monocots. Liliales contributes the true lilies and tulips of the family Liliaceae; Asparagales, by far the larger contributor here, spans the orchid family Orchidaceae, the single largest family of flowering plants, the asparagus family Asparagaceae (asparagus itself, agaves, hyacinths, bluebells and the dragon tree Dracaena), the amaryllis family Amaryllidaceae (onion, garlic and daffodil), the iris family Iridaceae, and the aloe and grass-tree family Asphodelaceae. A member is placed here only when its own family is genuinely within one of these two orders; several plants with lily in their common English name, among them the water lilies and the voodoo lily, belong to entirely unrelated families and are correctly left out of this group.FactsBrowse BySourcesComments (0)Reader Challenges (0)FactsComparisonTaxonomic Rank OrderWell-attested5 1Reproductive ModeWell-attestedSeed-Bearing 2Browse ByAll Lilies And Orchids (Liliales/Asparagales)Lilies And Orchids (Liliales/Asparagales)34 entriesLilies And Orchids (Liliales/Asparagales)Filter Results34 entriesCommon GroupAllLilies And Orchids (Liliales/Asparagales) (34)TaxonomyAllAloe (8)Asparagales (6)Liliales (3)Magnoliopsida (1)Orchidaceae (3)Plantae (6)Solanaceae (1)HabitatAllDesert (2)Conservation StatusAllCritically Endangered (3)Endangered (2)Least Concern (10)Near Threatened (2)Vulnerable (1)EcosystemAllChihuahuan Desert (1)Everglades (1)Fynbos (1)DietAllPhotosynthetic Autotroph (19)System (Realm)AllFreshwater (1)Marine (2)Terrestrial (19)Terrestrial and Freshwater (1)Relationship to PeopleAllFarmed or Commercially Raised (5)Invasive or Introduced Species (2)Used in Traditional Medicine (3)Living or ExtinctAllYes (17)Where It LivesAllAfghanistan (1)Africa (7)Albania (8)Algeria (8)Asia (1)Australia (4)Australia (3)Austria (12)Bahamas (1)Bangladesh (6)Belarus (6)Belgium (9)Belize (2)Bolivia (2)Botswana (1)Brazil (9)Bulgaria (11)Cambodia (4)Canada (1)Central African Republic (1)Chad (1)Colombia (6)Comoros (3)Costa Rica (4)Croatia (1)Cuba (5)Cyprus (1)Czechia (2)Denmark (8)Dominican Republic (6)East Africa (1)Ecuador (3)Egypt (2)El Salvador (1)Eritrea (1)Estonia (2)Eswatini (1)Ethiopia (4)Fiji (2)Finland (4)France (16)Georgia (6)Germany (13)Greece (9)Guatemala (3)Guinea (1)Guinea-Bissau (1)Guyana (1)Haiti (4)Honduras (1)Hungary (6)Iceland (1)India (5)Indonesia (1)Iran (3)Iraq (2)Ireland (8)Italy (13)Jamaica (3)Japan (1)Kazakhstan (5)Kenya (1)Laos (1)Lesotho (2)Libya (4)Lithuania (1)Luxembourg (1)Madagascar (5)Manchuria (3)Mauritania (1)Mauritius (4)Mongolia (3)Morocco (6)Mozambique (1)Myanmar (3)Nauru (1)Netherlands (6)Nicaragua (1)North America (14)Norway (9)Pakistan (3)Palestine (2)Paraguay (1)Peru (3)Philippines (1)Poland (4)Portugal (6)Romania (7)Rwanda (1)Seychelles (5)Slovakia (1)Slovenia (1)South Africa (5)South Asia (1)Spain (15)Suriname (1)Sweden (6)Switzerland (8)Taiwan (5)Tanzania (1)Thailand (4)Tonga (2)Tunisia (4)Turkmenistan (2)Ukraine (6)United Kingdom (3)United States (3)Uzbekistan (2)Venezuela (1)Vietnam (1)Yemen (2)BrowseCompareSelect all 34Agave fourcroydesFlowering Plants1 linkAgave parryiFlowering Plants2 linksAgave victoriae-reginaeFlowering Plants3 linksAllium fistulosumFlowering PlantsAllium ursinumFlowering Plants1 linkAloe citreaFlowering Plants1 linkAloe jawiyonFlowering Plants1 linkAloe macrocladaFlowering Plants1 linkAloe maculataFlowering Plants1 linkAloe pegleraeFlowering Plants1 linkAloe perryiFlowering Plants1 linkAloe succotrinaFlowering Plants2 linksAloe thraskiiFlowering Plants1 linkAnemarrhenaFlowering PlantsAsparagusFlowering Plants1 linkCentury PlantFlowering Plants1 linkCommon BluebellFlowering Plants1 linkCrocus sieberiFlowering Plants1 linkDracaena reflexaFlowering PlantsDragon's Blood TreeFlowering Plants1 linkGarden TulipFlowering Plants1 linkGarlicFlowering Plants1 linkGhost OrchidFlowering Plants2 linksGladiolus communisFlowering Plants1 linkIris pseudacorusFlowering Plants1 linkMoth OrchidFlowering PlantsNarcissus poeticusFlowering Plants1 linkNarcissus pseudonarcissusFlowering Plants1 linkOnionFlowering Plants1 linkParis quadrifoliaFlowering Plants1 linkRhizanthella gardneriFlowering Plants1 linkVanda coeruleaFlowering PlantsVanilla Orchid (Vanilla planifolia)Flowering Plants1 linkXanthorrhoeaFlowering PlantsSources1.
