The bigmouth buffalo is a fish native to North America, and the largest species in the Catostomidae, or sucker, family. It is one of the longest-lived and latest-maturing freshwater fishes, capable of living 148 years and reproducing infrequently, and shows no age-related decline even at a century old. It is also known as the marblehead, redmouth buffalo, buffalofish, bernard buffalo, or roundhead, and despite the resemblance it is not a carp, nor is any other member of its family. The species is currently in decline. This description is adapted from Wikipedia contributors under CC BY-SA 4.0; changes were made. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
