The grey bamboo shark, Chiloscyllium griseum, is a species of carpet shark in the family Hemiscylliidae, order Orectolobiformes. Adults are plain brown without distinctive markings, while juveniles carry transverse dark bands, and the species reaches a maximum length of about 74 centimeters. It ranges across the Indo-West Pacific from the Arabian Sea to Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Japan, the Philippines and Papua New Guinea, roughly between 34 degrees north and 10 degrees south latitude. It is oviparous, reproducing by laying eggs, and the IUCN Red List lists it as Vulnerable because of the pressure human fishing places on its population.
