Rhizanthella gardneri

Rhizanthella gardneri, commonly known as the western underground orchid, is a species of flowering plant in the orchid family, endemic to the southwest of Western Australia. It spends its entire life cycle, including flowering, at or below the soil surface, producing between May and July a head of up to 100 small reddish to cream-colored, inward-facing flowers surrounded by large cream-colored bracts on a horizontal rhizome.
