Sebastiania pavoniana

Sebastiania pavoniana is a species of tree in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae, native to Mexico, including Baja California Sur, Puebla, Sonora, Jalisco, and Veracruz, and to Guanacaste Province in northwestern Costa Rica. It grows as a slender tree or large shrub 10 to 12 meters tall and is best known as the source of the Mexican jumping bean: although not a true bean or legume, its seed capsules jump when they contain the larva of the jumping bean moth, Cydia saltitans.
