Chocolate Cosmos

Chocolate cosmos is a flowering plant native to Mexico, grown for its dark maroon, velvety blooms that give off a genuine scent of chocolate and vanilla, most noticeable on warm days. The wild form of the plant is now considered extinct in its native habitat, and every chocolate cosmos in cultivation today descends from a single clone propagated through cuttings and tubers rather than seed. Because it rarely if ever sets viable seed, the species depends entirely on people to keep it in existence.
