Tabernanthe Iboga

Tabernanthe iboga is an evergreen rainforest shrub of the dogbane family, Apocynaceae, native to Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Republic of Congo. It usually grows to about two meters but can eventually reach ten meters as a small tree, with dark green narrow leaves, clusters of tubular flowers, and yellow-orange fruits resembling chili peppers. Its root bark concentrates psychoactive indole alkaloids, chiefly ibogaine, and the plant has drawn scientific interest for the compound's reported effect on drug cravings, though ibogaine also carries cardiac risks.
