Bambusa ventricosa

Bambusa ventricosa is a species of bamboo in the grass family Poaceae, native to Vietnam and Guangdong province in southern China. It is best known for the swollen, bulbous internodes that develop on its stems under stressful growing conditions, which have earned it the common names Buddha bamboo and Buddha belly bamboo. The species is widely cultivated outside its native range as an ornamental plant and is a popular subject for bonsai.
