Terek sandpiper

The Terek sandpiper is a small migratory Palearctic wader and the only member of the genus Xenus, named for the Terek River near the Caspian Sea where it was first observed. It breeds in taiga from Finland through northern Siberia to the Kolyma River and winters on tropical coasts in East Africa, South Asia and Australia. It is 22 to 25 centimeters long, with a distinctive long, upturned bill, a grey back, face and breast, a white supercilium and yellow feet, and its conservation status is Least Concern.
