Pincushion Moss

Leucobryum glaucum, commonly known as pincushion moss or leucobryum moss, is a species of moss with a wide distribution across eastern North America and Europe. It inhabits temperate forests of the Northern Hemisphere, and its structure allows it to absorb metal ions from its surroundings. It reproduces through apical growth, fragmentation, and a form of sexual reproduction called oogamy, a process that requires moist conditions because its sperm can travel only through water.
