Bombus cryptarum

Bombus cryptarum, the cryptic bumblebee, is a species of bumblebee native to the northern hemisphere and one of the most widespread bumblebees in the world, occurring across Europe, Asia and western North America. It belongs to a species complex of closely related and difficult to distinguish bees within the subgenus Bombus sensu stricto, which has left its full distribution uncertain, and it has only recently been confirmed in the British Isles. It inhabits plains and heather ecosystems in the north of its range and mountain habitats further south; the IUCN lists it as Data Deficient, while NatureServe considers it secure.
