The Madagascar anemonefish (Amphiprion latifasciatus), described by Gerald Allen in 1972, is found only around Madagascar and the Comoro Islands in the western Indian Ocean. It reaches about 13 centimeters and is blackish with a yellow snout, belly, and fins, and two white bars, the middle one generally wider than in similar species, over a slightly forked tail. It associates with Mertens' carpet sea anemone and the bubble tip anemone, is rated Least Concern by the IUCN, and remains extremely rare in the aquarium trade because its habitat is so geographically limited.
