McCulloch's anemonefish (Amphiprion mccullochi), also called the whitesnout anemonefish, is confined to the subtropical southwestern Pacific around Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, and the nearby Middleton and Elizabeth Reefs. It reaches about 12 centimeters and is dark brown with a pale snout, a white bar on each side of the head, and a pale tail, showing none of the geographic or host related color variation seen in many relatives. It associates only with the bubble tip anemone, and its small range, small population, and extreme habitat specialization have led the IUCN to list it as Vulnerable, with Australian law listing it as Critically Endangered as of 2024.
