Erythrodiplax berenice, the seaside dragonlet, is a relatively small, slender bodied species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae, found mainly in coastal marshes, mangrove swamps and alkaline lakes of eastern North America, first described by Drury in 1773. It is unique among dragonflies of the western hemisphere in being able to reproduce in seawater. Adults measure 31 to 35 millimeters long; mature males turn black with a waxy bloom and have dark red eyes that fade to light green, while females are more variably colored, from bright orange to mostly black.
