Chinese Hibiscus

Chinese Hibiscus, also called China rose, Hawaiian hibiscus, rose mallow or shoeblack plant, is a cultigen of tropical hibiscus in the Hibiscus genus and the mallow family Malvaceae. It is an artificial hybrid created in cultivation during the pre-Columbian era by Polynesians in the western Pacific, crossing Hibiscus cooperi and Hibiscus kaute, and it is now widely cultivated as an ornamental plant across the tropics and subtropics; it does not tolerate temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius and is Malaysia's official national flower.
