Exidia pithya

Exidia pithya is a species of fungus in the family Auriculariaceae, known in the United Kingdom by the recommended English name warlock's butter. It produces black, gelatinous fruiting bodies and is a common wood-rotting species across Europe, typically growing on the dead attached branches of broadleaf trees and more rarely on conifers. The species was formerly known as Exidia nigricans and has often been confused with the closely related Exidia friesiana.
