Cypress-leaved Plait-moss

Cypress-leaved plait-moss, Hypnum cupressiforme, is a moss of the family Hypnaceae whose creeping stems form smooth, dense mats, with overlapping branch leaves that give each shoot the tapering, layered look of a miniature cypress branch. It is one of the most widespread mosses on Earth, found on every continent except Antarctica across an unusually broad range of habitats and climates, typically growing on tree trunks, logs, walls and rocks in acidic conditions, and it tolerates air pollution better than many other mosses.
