Tree moss, Climacium dendroides, is a moss of the family Climaciaceae whose upright, branching stems, typically two to ten centimeters tall, resemble a miniature palm or forest tree, with a bare lower stem topped by a crown of leafy branches. It grows in patches in consistently moist ground such as swamps, peatlands and the fluctuating margins of lakes, and is found across northern and central Europe and Asia, North America and the South Island of New Zealand.
