Rosa banksiae, commonly called Lady Banks' rose or Banks' rose, is a flowering plant in the rose family Rosaceae, native to central and western China in the provinces of Gansu, Guizhou, Henan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Sichuan, and Yunnan, at elevations between about 500 and 2,200 meters. It grows as a vigorous, scrambling shrubby vine reaching about 6 meters tall, is practically thornless, and keeps evergreen leaves. Its flowers are small, 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters across, white or pale yellow, and fragrant, opening early in the growing season, typically in May in the Northern Hemisphere. The species is named for Dorothea, Lady Banks, wife of the botanist Sir Joseph Banks.
