Lake whitefish

The lake whitefish is a species of freshwater whitefish native to North America, found throughout much of Canada and parts of the northern United States, including all of the Great Lakes. It is sometimes called a humpback fish because of its small head relative to its body length, and other vernacular names include Otsego bass, Sault whitefish, gizzard fish, and Great Lakes whitefish. It is a valuable commercial fish also caught by sport fishermen, and its smoked, refrigerated, or vacuum-packed fillets are sold in North American grocery stores.
