Typhloesus

Typhloesus is an extinct genus represented by the single species Typhloesus wellsi, an enigmatic bilaterian animal known from the Bear Gulch Limestone of the United States. It was once believed to provide the first body fossil evidence of a conodont, an identification based on what turned out to be gut contents rather than the animal's own anatomy. It is now thought to possess a radula, a feature that would place it among the molluscs, though radula-like structures are known to have evolved independently in other groups. Its true affinities remain unresolved.
