Proterozoic Problematic Fossil Genera is a Browse By group of the Nature Atlas that gathers genera of problematic fossils from the Proterozoic eon, between about 2.5 billion and 540 million years ago, whose nature is still debated, such as Diskagma, Myxomitodes, Horodyskia and Clonophycus. An entry belongs here when its own cited article states that the fossil is from the Proterozoic and that its identity is uncertain. It excludes Cambrian and Ediacaran problematic fossils, which have their own groups. Fossils this old are rare and simple, so scientists often cannot say whether a form is an animal, an alga, a bacterial colony or a trace left by something moving, and the group collects those open questions in one place.

Myxomitodes (Greek "slime thread like") is a genus of problematic fossil from the Paleoproterozoic (1900 million years old) Stirling Range Formation of Western Australia, and is significant as a very old megascopic fossil, and thus eukaryote.

Clonophycus is a genus of fossil microalgae. The type species, C. elegans, was found in the Barney Creek Formation (McArthur Group), of the Middle Proterozoic of Northern Australia. The authors are uncertain if the microalgae are prokaryotic cyanobacteria or eukaryotic green or red algae.
