Cucujidae

Cucujidae, known as the flat bark beetles, is a family of beetles in the superfamily Cucujoidea. The roughly 70 described species across about five genera live worldwide except in Africa and Antarctica, sheltering their flattened bodies, six to twenty five millimeters long, under the bark of dead trees. They prey on the larvae and pupae of other wood boring insects, including species that spread fungal disease, and are considered beneficial to the health of living trees.
