Lycidae is a family of beetles in the order Coleoptera, commonly known as net-winged beetles, with a cosmopolitan distribution spanning the Nearctic, Palearctic, Neotropical, Afrotropical, Oriental and Australian regions. The family comprises more than 250 genera and over 900 species. Members are elongated beetles usually found on flowers or stems; adult males are about 10 to 15 millimeters long, with females somewhat larger, and adults of some species feed on nectar while others may not feed at all during their short adult lives.
