Scirtidae

Scirtidae is a family of beetles in the order Coleoptera commonly known as marsh beetles, named for larvae typically associated with stagnant water, though they can also be found in flowing water, while adults prefer decomposing plant material near the water's edge. The family comprises more than an estimated 600 species distributed among at least 60 genera, first described by John Fleming in 1821.
