Great diving beetle

The great diving beetle is an aquatic diving beetle native to Europe and northern Asia, and in the United Kingdom it is common in Wales, much of England and southern Scotland, though less common on chalk and in the far north. True to its name it is a large insect: its larvae can grow up to 60 millimeters long, while adults typically measure 27 to 35 millimeters.
