Papilio aegeus

Papilio aegeus, known as the orchard swallowtail butterfly or large citrus butterfly, is a species of butterfly in the family Papilionidae found in eastern Australia and Papua New Guinea. It occurs in every Australian state except Tasmania, and its subspecies P. a. ormenus is found in Papua New Guinea and on Thursday Island, with other subspecies in the Banda and Bismarck Sea island groups. Females have a wingspan of about 140 millimeters and males about 120 millimeters, making it a notably large species for the region. Its caterpillars are sometimes considered a pest because they feed on citrus leaves in suburban gardens.
