Pseudosphinx tetrio, known as the tetrio sphinx, giant gray sphinx or frangipani hornworm, is a hawk moth of the family Sphingidae and the only species in the genus Pseudosphinx, described by Hermann Burmeister in 1856 from a species Carl Linnaeus had named in 1771. The adult moth is brown with gray and white markings and a darker brown hindwing, its body banded in gray, white and black, and it has a wingspan of 12.7 to 14 centimeters, with females typically larger than males. It occurs through the tropical and subtropical Americas from the southern and southwestern United States to Brazil, with occasional individuals recorded as far north as the northeastern United States; in Martinique it is known locally as the Rasta caterpillar for its distinctive larval coloring.
