The flower crab spider, Misumena vatia, is a species of crab spider found across North America, Europe and Asia, named for its sideways, crab-like walk and its habit of ambushing pollinating insects while sitting motionless on flowers. It is capable of slowly changing color between white and yellow over the course of several days to match the flower it is hiding on, a form of camouflage that helps it remain undetected by both its insect prey and its own predators.
