Ice crawlers, also called rock crawlers, are wingless insects of the order Grylloblattodea, found only in cold habitats such as caves, glaciers and mountain slopes in parts of North America and northeastern Asia. Extremely cold-adapted, they are typically active at temperatures near freezing and can be killed by body heat if handled, foraging at night on dead insects, plant material and other organic debris that collects on snow and ice.
