Nautilus macromphalus

Nautilus macromphalus, commonly called the bellybutton nautilus, is a species of nautilus native to the waters off New Caledonia and northeastern Australia. Unlike most other nautiluses, its shell lacks a callus, leaving the umbilicus exposed so the inner coils of the shell remain visible through an opening that makes up about fifteen percent of the shell diameter at its widest point.
